DANIELLE: HER SUCCESS STORY

Following years of harassment, assault, and persecution, 26-year-old Danielle fled Jamaica around Christmas of 2020 and landed in Paris with no contacts, no money, no winter clothes, and speaking not a word of French.

When alerted by her friend, Iman immediately took Danielle’s case to avoid any chance of Danielle’s deportation. Iman did everything she could do to ensure Danielle’s safety, including temporary housing, stipends for her basic essentials, and outreach to local Trans and LGBTQ Asylum organizations.

Once her asylum status was granted, Danielle rapidly found a full time job in Paris as a hair stylist, using the skills that she had developed back in the shelters & streets of Jamaica, styling the hair of her trans and queer siblings. Determined, skilled, and incredibly passionate, Danielle declared that in 2 years she will run her own successful hair salon in Paris.
