Iman met Shiraz in the summer of 2021 when she was 19 years old. She was horrified as a young transgender woman in Egypt, constantly facing harassment and violence, desperately seeking safety. Trans Asylias immediately took her case, and worked to relocate her out of Egypt. 

Shortly thereafter Shiraz was on a plane, out of Egypt towards Turkey, a transit country for asylum seekers. In Turkey, we have supported her by helping her with living expenses until we find the safe country which will grant her asylum. 

In the meantime, Shiraz has been able to enroll in a university of Medicine & Science, with the hopes of pursuing studies to become a doctor, hang out with her pets, and start to build a new life outside Egypt, with the support of Trans Asylias.
